How can my child travel after a ban on leaving the country has been lifted?
Ban on leaving the country
Where there is a risk of international child abduction, French family court judges can order a ban on minors leaving the country.
In practice, the JAF's judgment is forwarded to the public prosecutor and the child is registered on the FPR list (FPR).
Travel ban
In practical terms, registration on the FPR prevents children from traveling abroad, even with one of their parents.
Request removal of FPR registration
Several years ago, a woman obtained a ruling from the Paris Court of Appeal to lift the ban on her two minor children leaving the country, which had been issued a few years earlier by the Family Court. After the Court of Appeal's decision, she had planned a vacation abroad, but found herself blocked in Paris because her children's names were still mentioned on the FPR. The vacation was cancelled.
She was very surprised because she thought the deletion had been carried out. It hadn't.
After a number of steps and a great deal of determination, the road was cleared.
This summer, her children will be free to go to summer camps abroad.
